| Welcome to the official TARA web site. We are chapter 100 of the Romance Writers of America. |
|
Membership Details All meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month at: Piccadilly Cafeteria, 11810 Dale Mabry Highway North, Tampa, Florida. Any changes in dates are published in The Scarlett Letter, the monthly e-newsletter of Tampa Area Romance Authors.
Visitors are always welcome to our general, non-workshop meetings, but after two visits, we require guests to apply for membership in TARA to continue receiving the benefits of the organization. Dues are $30.00 per year. Membership in Romance Writers of America is required. National dues for new members are $75.00; renewal dues are $65.00 per year. TARA has set up a database for our members. In an effort to encourage networking and assistance between our members, we will publish a membership roster that will include the contact details gathered on the front side of this application/renewal form. This roster will be distributed once annually. Quarterly updates will be available upon request. Remember, Tampa Area Romance Authors is a chapter of Romance Writers of America. To belong to TARA, you must also belong to RWA. This is not our requirement, but theirs. We could lose our chapter affiliation if we don’t comply, and they check our membership roster to make sure we do. We must drop your name from our membership roster if you are not an RWA member. Reinstatement is not automatic once you’ve been dropped -- you must pay TARA membership dues again. Besides, membership in RWA is a must if you are serious about writing romances (or anything else!), and well worth the minimal cost (less per week than coffee and a Danish -- a small investment in your career!). Please keep your membership in RWA current. If you are not already a member and need a membership application, let me know and I’ll send you one. After you join or renew, be sure to speak up, speak out, volunteer, participate, and most of all, make yourself at home and feel welcome! We’re glad to have you. |
